About Simply Listening
Professional Listening! Is that even a thing?
Quite simply yes – Our professional listeners are trained in Active Listening and Non-directive Presence, which are communication techniques whereby they focus intently on you, to fully understand you. It goes beyond simply hearing your words. It involves making a conscious effort to understand your perspective, feelings, and intentions.
It’s a place to talk and be heard — fully, quietly, and without judgement.
What we offer
At its heart, this is a space for you to speak freely and be heard — fully, quietly, without pressure. We are not therapists. We are not here to give advice or tell you what to do. What we offer is simple, but rare: presence, attention, and emotional safety. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, grieving, unsure, stuck, or simply want to process something out loud, you're welcome here — just as you are.
What a call looks like
• Duration: Calls last 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
• Format: One-to-one phone call with a professional listener of your choice.
• Focus: You speak. They listen. There is no agenda.
• Silence is okay. Emotion is okay.
Anything you need to say is okay. You don’t need to have a “story” or problem to solve.
Some people use this time to make sense of their thoughts, speak about something they’ve never shared before, sit with emotion without rushing to fix it or hear themselves in a new way.
Our role as a professional listener
We will:
• Be fully present with you
• Offer a quiet, accepting space
• Reflect gently, if invited
• Respect your privacy and your pace
We won’t:
• Diagnose or treat mental health conditions
• Offer solutions or advice
• Direct the conversation
• Interrupt your flow
