1. What exactly is a “Professional Listener”?
A Professional Listener offers a calm, confidential space where you can speak freely — without judgment, advice, or interruption. We are not a therapist or coach. We simply listen with full attention, compassion, and presence. This isn’t about fixing you — it’s about giving you room to hear yourself and be heard. Found out more here.
2. What happens in a session?
You talk, and we listen. You can bring anything you like: thoughts, emotions, stories, silence, confusion. There’s no pressure to explain, no need to make sense. This is your time to be heard in your own way.
3. Do I have to talk the whole time?
Not at all. Some people speak for the full allotted time. Others pause, reflect, or sit in silence. There’s no “right” way to use your time. It’s a space to be however you need to be.
4. Will you give me advice or tell me what to do?
No. Our role isn’t to solve or guide — it’s to witness and listen to you. If you ask for reflection, our professional listeners may gently mirror what they hear. But they won’t give advice, opinions, or try to fix anything. This is about your voice, not ours.
5. Is this therapy?
No — this is a non-clinical, non-therapeutic space. While it may feel emotionally supportive, it’s not mental health treatment. If you need therapy or clinical care, we can help signpost you to qualified professionals. Find out more here.
6. Is it confidential?
Yes. Everything you say stays between us. We don’t record sessions. The only exception would be if we believed someone’s life was in immediate danger — in which case we’d let you know before acting.
7. What if I don’t know what to say?
That’s okay. You don’t have to come in with a plan. You can start wherever you are — even with “I don’t know where to start.” We’ll be here with you, wherever the session goes.
8. How will I know when my allotted time is up?
Our professional listeners will firstly let you know when you have 2 minutes left and again when our allotted time is up. Unfortunately we can not overrun booked time slots due to multiple bookings taken throughout the day, however you are free to book a further call with the professional listener of your choice through the website.
9. Can I finish the call early?
Yes, you can finish the call whenever you like. No pressure. Please note there will be no refunds on any time not used.
10. Can I cancel or change my appointment?
Yes you can cancel up to 24 hours prior to our call and receive a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours would be liable for the full call cost. You are free to rearrange the appointment through the link sent in the original booking email.
11. Can I book a call regularly?
Absolutely. Many book a call weekly or monthly to help process life as it unfolds. Others drop in when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or full. There’s no commitment — just a welcome space whenever you need it.
12. Where are you based?
We are based in the United Kingdom. We can currently only arrange calls to those within the United Kingdom.
13. What training to do you have?
Our professional listeners are trained in active listening and non-directive presence, both of which support the kind of grounded, compassionate attention brought to each call.
14. What does a call cost?
Our call costs are dependent on the duration of the call chosen.
- 15 minutes – £25
- 30 minutes – £45
- 45 minutes – £65
- 1 hour – £85
15. What if I miss your call?
If you don’t answer our call on the scheduled date and time, we will attempt to recall you every minute for the first 5 minutes of your scheduled time. If our call remains unanswered after 5 minutes, the scheduled call will be considered forfeited.
